The VSO is the state organization that birding enthusiasts can join. It holds an annual meeting in the spring, as well as field trips throughout the year.
Its purpose is to encourage the systematic study of birds in Virginia, to stimulate interest in birds, and to assist the conservation of wildlife and other natural resources. |

Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory
This non-profit was founded in 1994 to carry on and expand the work of volunteers - many of whom were HRBC members - who established an annual songbird banding station in 1963 at Kiptopeke State Park. |
