VSO Chincoteague Field Trip - Sept. 10-12, 2010

Club Picnic - June 12, 2010

This year about 30 people attended the annual picnic at Sandy Bottom Nature Park. Dot Silsby and Harry Carlson took some great photos. See the rest of them HERE.

Photo Contest - May 14, 2010

The first-ever Photo Contest for our Club was held on May 14, 2010. Many thanks to Mary Copeland for organizing the event, inviting judges, setting up the tables, and providing the prizes. 	HRBC members Dot Silsby, Jane Frigo and Marc Nichols traveled to Staunton in March to celebrate Dorothy Mitchell's 90th birthday. Courtney Worrall at Sandy Bottom Nature Park holds Keri, an American Kestrel that she has been training the past 8 months. The two of them work together to teach visitors about wildlife. Courtney spoke at our February meeting, and everyone enjoyed meeting her and Keri!

Club Picnic - June 6, 2009

Twenty-three people attended our annual picnic, held by popular demand at Sandy Bottom Nature Park on Saturday, June 6. Several members participated in the day’s first event at 8:00 AM, a field trip led by park ranger Mark Nichols.

The picnic was set up at the Parker Pavilion, a covered shelter with lots of picnic tables. Thanks to chefs Tom Claydon and Mike Propst, who grilled lots of hamburgers and hot dogs.
Nan LaRue was recognized for her many years of service as the Club’s Treasurer with great applause. We also gave her a potted flower and gold chain necklace with amethyst stone.
